OPPO is said to be working on a new smartphone called the OPPO A16. It will replace last year’s OPPO A15. One whistleblower said it will be rebranded as OPPO A37 (2021) in some other markets.

Like the previous model, the OPPO A16 is expected to arrive as a low budget smartphone. This model is likely to be released in the Chinese market as OPPO A37 (2021). In China it can come in colors like blue, beige and black. The A16 can be released in shades like blue, black and white in other markets.

As the OPPO A16 gains several certifications and appears on the benchmark Geekbench site, some of its specs have been revealed. The A16 measures 163.78 x 75.62mm and measures 180.39mm diagonally. For connectivity, it will offer features like dual-band Wi-Fi, 4G LTE, and Bluetooth.

ColorOS 11.1 based on the Android 11 operating system will be pre-installed on the A16. It could be powered by the Helio G35 chipset and 4GB of RAM. A 5,000mAh battery is likely to support charging 10W for the phone. For safety, it has a fingerprint scanner mounted on the side. Other details of the phone have not yet been revealed.

The A15 predecessor offers specs like a 6.5-inch IPS LCD screen, a 5-megapixel selfie camera, and a 13-megapixel wavy camera system. It included other specs like the P35 Helio chip, 2GB / 3GB of RAM, 32GB of internal storage, Android 10 OS, a 4,230mAh battery with a 10W charge, and a rear-mounted fingerprint sensor.
