Xiaomi Mi 11 Lite 5G is expected to be the cheapest and least impressive model in this year’s Mi 11 series. It has neither a powerful camera nor a state-of-the-art screen. But I think it still has some highlights that are unique to the model. For these rare highlights, I think there are still plenty of people who will pay for it.
Before starting the review I want to clarify one thing. The Mi 11 Lite in this review is the 5G-capable Chinese version, not just the 4G global version.
Xiaomi Mi 11 Lite 5G Review: Design
Its appearance at first glance is almost identical to that of Mi 11. It has the same lens module design, same position as the logo. But the details are different. For example, the rear panel has gone flat, the power button has integrated fingerprint recognition, and the “108 MP” on the lens has disappeared.
Xiaomi Mi 11 Lite 5G featured Review 15 In terms of design only, it is very common. But his strong point is weight and thickness control. A weight of 159g and the thickness of 6.81mm is very rare for a 5G phone. And it’s also the lightest and thinnest 5G phone we’ve tested.
Xiaomi Mi 11 Lite 5G 13 ReviewThe weight of this phone plus egg is equal to the Mi 11 Pro’s weight. And most importantly, while the frame is still plastic, the rear panel is still RE frosted glass. It looks so much better than a phone made entirely of plastic. At least it won’t look that cheap. Although the design of the Mi 11 Lite 5G is very common, I am willing to give it a high rating for this extreme weight and thickness control.
Xiaomi Mi 11 Lite 5G Review: Display
The front of the Mi 11 Lite 5G features a 6.55-inch 90Hz 1080p screen with HDR10 + and Dolby Vision support. The bottom bevel width is well controlled and the screen is somewhat similar to the iPhone 11 with four equal widths. And this straight screen is made of flexible AMOLED, so theoretically the look and feel should be good.
Xiaomi Mi 11 Lite 5G 12Ma Mi 11 Lite 5G Review available in two types of display on the market. Basically, the pixels are organized into two different configurations. One variant features a screen with diamond-like pixels, while the other has Delta RGB pixels.
Unfortunately, the Delta RGB pixel screen compared to the diamond-shaped pixel screen has worse font clarity and the font edge has a color edge problem. The unit we have has a Delta RGB pixel screen, so the screen quality is low compared to the other variant which is the same price. And if you look at the phone screen from the side, the color cast problem is obvious. But if you’re lucky and get a pixelated version of the diamond-like screen, I think the screen can still get a positive rating. But the Delta RGB pixel version is clearly a negative score.
Xiaomi Mi 11 Lite 5G Review: performance and games
The second highlight of the Mi 11 Lite 5G is the new Snapdragon 780G processor. The performance of the new 5nm Snapdragon mid-range processor is as follows: AnTuTu Benchmark runs for 537788, 3Dmark at 3121, single-core Geekbench 5 at 805 and multi-core at 2937. Compared to 1200 MTK Dimension, still and a little worse.
The gaming test also confirms this view. PUBG seems to exert no significant weight on the mid-range chip, running at almost full frame rate with the HDR Graphics extreme frame rate.
Xiaomi Mi 11 Lite 5G Review 08 However, Genshin Impact had an average frame rate of 37.96 fps, which was quite a common experience.
Xiaomi Mi 11 Lite 5G 06 Review The only thing that worked better was the temperature control. The maximum temperature reached was only 50 degrees Celsius and the chip was not slowed down during play. The screen brightness was also not reduced. Overall, the Mi 11 Lite 5G is suitable for lightweight gaming users only.
Xiaomi Mi 11 Lite 5G Review: Camera
The Mi 11 Lite 5G camera is a budget camera. All three cameras include a 64MP main camera, an 8MP ultra wide angle lens, and a 5MP macro telephoto lens.
Main camera
The main color style of the camera is on the high contrast side. The contrast is higher than the realme GT Neo. Some scenes will seem smarter, but the dynamic range is not nearly as good. The likelihood of automatic HDR activation is not high, but even if HDR is manually activated, the dynamic range enhancement is not much. When taking pictures, be careful not to choose a particularly dazzling scene.
The sharpness of the zoom is twice too strong, the line will appear cracked. Night performance is similar to daytime performance, with the high contrast ratio making the night scene seem slightly underestimated. But the highlights are well-checked. Highs are further reduced in night mode and exposure can be slightly improved in extreme dark conditions. But when there is a lot of light, turning off the highlights will make your eyes uncomfortable. Unless the light is very small, it is not recommended to use the night mode to take photos.
Ultra wide angle camera
The performance of the ultra wide angle lens is almost the same as the main camera, the main difference being that hardware limitations lead to a more serious underestimation of night shots. Check out some sample photo sets for an idea.
Xiaomi Mi 11 Lite 5G Review: Life and Battery Charging
The box is still without a charger and a charging cable. The charger and the charging cable are still included separately. The 33W charging power is also the standard configuration for the Xiaomi family of mid-range phones.
Xiaomi Mi 11 Lite 5G charging review 04 In 10 minutes it rose to 24%, after half an hour it reached 57% and took 64 minutes to fully charge. In general, the battery capacity of a thin and lightweight phone is no big deal. It’s scary that Xiaomi still manages to insert a 4250mAh battery, knowing it’s a 159g phone.
Xiaomi Mi 11 Lite 5G 03 Review In our test, the phone used 6% for half an hour of Tiktok and 5% for half an hour of 1080P video. Two traditional games “PUBG” and “Genshin Impact” used 9% and 16% respectively. The high-load game “Brightridge” used 10%. This level of battery life is now comparable to many 4500mAh phones. This battery on such a lightweight phone should be the third highlight of this review.
Xiaomi Mi 11 Lite 5G Review: ruling
In conclusion, the Xia 11 Lite 5G is not a traditional Xiaomi phone. It does not have powerful hardware and is not very low priced either. In terms of hardware configuration, it doesn’t even give you the same value as the cheaper Redmi K40.
But in the 5G age, it offers consumers one of the few options that like to use lightweight and thin phones. In fact, I would recommend you to go to an offline store and get your hands on this phone. Then you will understand its meaning in the formation of Xiaomi.
